the beast that breaks the net and escapes to raise its young safe

if you shop for groceries I’ll cook up a meal
and that’s healing

and its the things that I’m proud of when I look in the mirror
helping each other love our whole naked selves
and when our lives feel rich though we ain’t making wealth
I’ll yell at the top of my lungs as a toast
to my family far away and my family real close
it gives me so much joy to watch my little brother grow
I love him and I make sure he knows
we’re sowing the seeds y’all make me believe
that someday we might be free and at peace
but for now we’re dreaming past the world we see
thank god I’ve got my family
